My journey to becoming a therapist started with receiving my Masters of Social Work. After working in a variety of community agencies, in various helping capacities, I finally started to feel my true calling which was to help people in a more powerful and intimate way through individual and couple therapy. I was drawn to joining and connecting with people as a means to helping them heal and experience growth in their lives and relationships.
I began to learn the art and science of therapy which for me, also involved bringing my own heart into this work. Then something big occurred in my life - I became a mother. I discovered that no matter how prepared we are for a life event, it can sometimes challenge us in ways we never expected. Motherhood is one of those experiences. I developed a passion for working with new mothers and their families to help guide them through the changes and adjustments that come with having a baby.
So my love of working with individuals and couples, and new mothers and their families has led me to pursue advanced clinical training in both of these areas ~ the Treatment of Pregnancy and Postpartum Mood Disorders and in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy.
So the essence of what I do is the same whether you are a single man seeking therapy to deal with depression, you are couple fighting to save your relationship or you're a new mother struggling to cope with postpartum anxiety - I connect with you emotionally and utilize proven and effective therapy approaches to understand what you are experiencing and develop a therapy plan to help you feel better, so you can connect to what really matters in your life.
